    1. I was surprised by this terminology as well when I edited this piece. But EMS personnel are referred to as “EMS Clinician” in academic writing (this paper) and by the AMA, NIH, CDC, and EMS.gov (NHTSA Office of EMS). This is common usage.

      1. Two years ago, national associations and publications, and NHTSA agreed to use the term “EMS Clinicians” in lieu of EMS “Providers, Personnel, Professionals” or the myriad of other descriptors in use.
